IBMConnect (Lotusphere) 2013 Highlights: Product Updates, Smarter Workforce and Smarter Commerce

IBMConnect (Lotusphere) 2013 Highlights: Product Updates, Smarter Workforce and Smarter Commerce

By Sandy Kemsley on January 28, 2013

A couple of weeks ago, IBM had two analyst calls about the announcements this week at IBM Connect 2013; since I’m not at the conference, I wrote most of this at that time but only published today due to embargo restrictions. It’s the 20th anniversary of Lotusphere, although the conference is no longer branded as [...]

What’s Next For BPM? bpmNEXT!

What’s Next For BPM? bpmNEXT!

By Sandy Kemsley on January 21, 2013

Sometime last year, I ran into Bruce Silver at a conference, and he told me about a new conference that he was planning together with Nathaniel Palmer, called bpmNEXT. As Bruce described it then, and as it says on the recently launched website, “Part TED, part DEMO, part Think Tank, bpmNEXT is not your usual [...]

CES 2013 Report

CES 2013 Report

By Evangelos Simoudis on January 15, 2013

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this year attracted about 153K attendees (flat compared to last year) and had 3000 exhibitors (about a 15% increase over last year).  Building from last year’s trend, this year CES was dominated by mobility and wireless Internet connectivity solutions.  My focus continues to be on the implications of these themes [...]

Nothing Stops the Box Bunny

Nothing Stops the Box Bunny

By Zoli Erdos on October 7, 2012

OK, so I ‘m abandoning my pictorial post schedule, as Box-mania just broke out, and I feel compelled to jump in.  But the skipped  NetSuite post is coming soon… I’ve been following Box longer than probably most observers and some of the old memories are worth sharing – from an admittedly subjective point of view. [...]

A Pictorial Tale of Two Conferences (and more)

A Pictorial Tale of Two Conferences (and more)

By Zoli Erdos on October 3, 2012

Recently I’ve attended two conferences two weeks apart in San Francisco, and the difference in style is shocking.  One did not even feel like a conference, rather a Festival – Woodstock, Mardi Gras, SXSW – your pick:-)  The other a decidedly more “closed” traditional corporate conference, so much so, that fellow commentators actually compared it [...]

A Comparison between Pacific Crest’s 2011 and 2012 SaaS Survey Results

A Comparison between Pacific Crest’s 2011 and 2012 SaaS Survey Results

By Evangelos Simoudis on August 27, 2012

Two weeks ago Pacific Crest held its annual technology conference in Colorado.  David Spitz and Brendan Barnicle ran their annual SaaS workshop where I was invited to participate.  The workshop opened with Brendan’s presentation on the results of the CIO survey the bank conducts and continued with David’s presentation on the SaaS company survey. The [...]

HR Tech in Chicago.

HR Tech in Chicago.

By Thomas Otter on August 7, 2012

Gosh. I’m very pleased, read ecstatic,  that I’m not going to Vegas for what seems like the 400th time.  I get to go to Chicago, Chicago, that wonderful town. For the past few years I’ve gone to HR tech I have managed to largely lurk in the background. This year I have a couple of speaking [...]

CRM reaches the heart of small business -- metaphorically, of course

CRM reaches the heart of small business — metaphorically, of course

By Paul Greenberg on June 4, 2012

For years, we have been talking about the value of CRM for small business. Yet, we the pundits of whatever, always have been publicly puzzled by what we thought was the slowness of small businesses to adopt CRM.  How dare they buck the trend that we were declaring! Admittedly, what we were talking about was [...]

CES 2012 Report

CES 2012 Report

By Evangelos Simoudis on January 19, 2012

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this year attracted 153k attendees (10% increase over last year), with 34K attendees being international. This was another event that showcased the continuing evolution of consumer electronic devices rather than anything revolutionary. Mobility and internet connectivity dominated the exhibits. My focus continues to be on the implications of these themes on our SaaS, adtech, mobility and big data strategies. Google’s influence was felt strongly this year both because of Motorola’s presence but also because of the incorporation of Android in many mobile devices and TVs, and so was Apple’s based on the number of iOS…

Oracle OpenWorld 2011: 10110101010...No, Really

Oracle OpenWorld 2011: 10110101010…No, Really

By Paul Greenberg on October 12, 2011

Oracle, Oracle, Oracle. WHAT am I going to DO with you?  On the one hand, you have certain parts of you that are very, very good.  Word is  (from a colleague or two who spends time talking to your customers) that your customers are generally content with you, though not ecstatic.  All in all, you [...]
