Since the Apple iPad was introduced earlier this year, it has been called “mostly a (content) consumption device”. If that is a consumption device, surely the amazon Kindle with only some limited annotation capability most certainly is.
Or is it?
As I played along with the latest generation Kindle which arrived at home this weekend, I discovered its “view popular highlights” and its “text-to-speech” features. It had me thinking how I could have reengineered the editing phase of my book, with its capabilities. Lots of woulda, shouldas here since this Kindle just came out, but bear with me.
I would have worked with my publisher and amazon to release a beta, 90% ready, Kindle version of the book, 3 months ahead of general release. It would have been priced attractively with the promise of a free version of the final…
