Dennis and I talk mostly about the culinary craft, these days. But he and I have been talking about the business of software both publicly and off the record for 8 years now. We’ve even rebutted opposing view points back and forth on our blogs back in the day (my all time favorite lob and volley). And he was kind enough to write-up my move to SAP three years ago. I’ve learnt tremendously from these intellectual debates.
One of the things I love about my conversations with him is that we always spend more time problem-sizing: appreciating the size and severity of the business problem that leaves up-tapped opportunity, vs endless banter about feature-shoot outs.
Dennis and I caught up about our SAPs collaboration business at SAPPHIRE last month. We talked about SAP Jam’s subscriber growth to 17M users in the past 12 quarters, work-patterns – functional specific collaboration solutions that address standard KPIs, and finally, our platform capabilities that enable our customers to drive vertical / industry differentiation.
I’m so privileged to be able to convey the incredible grit and heart that our team puts into their work. Here goes…
